At least 5 dead in Ind. during severe storms

HOLTON, Ind. – The Indiana State Police have reported at least two deaths in Ripley County during the severe storms Friday, but the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office reports four people have died.

The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office says four people were killed in Holton, Ind., 9 miles west of US 50 in the western part of Ripley County at the Ripley County/Jennings County line.

The Indiana State Police report just two deaths, but with two others who have sustained life-threatening injuries during the storms.

The details surrounding the incidents that led to their deaths have not been released, and officials have not yet released their identities

A powerful storm moved through the Ripley County area, with possible tornadoes associated.

Three other people were reported dead in Jefferson County, Ind., according the Office of Homeland Security.
